My Story
I had trouble reading as a kid. The books my classmates seemed to devour took me a little longer to get through. A home tutor was hired—lovely, patient—but that didn’t stop me from flushing her flashcards down the toilet. No flashcards, no lesson… right?
Not exactly.
With persistence (and yes, more flashcards), the world of words began to open—doors into worlds within worlds. And all these years later, they’ve never stopped.
Life does indeed have a sense of humor.
The girl who struggled to read… wound up reading for a living.
I spent 25 years in New York City, working in commercial voiceovers and acting.
Now, I’ve returned to my roots in Portland, Oregon, where I live in a renovated 1915 library. Tall ladders on wheels glide along high bookshelves — and it makes me very happy.
I work from my home recording studio with a focus on audiobook narration. To inhabit the world of story—be it 30 seconds or 300 pages …and bring it to life for both the author and listener—is a beautiful thing.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me spending time with family, geeking out about birds and plants, and enjoying the many culinary wonders of the potato.
